Jeremiah 2 Reflection

πŸŒΏ The Fountain That Never Runs Dry πŸŒΏ

Greetings! Today’s reflection comes from Jeremiah 2, where God’s call to His people is both heartbreaking and hopeful.

Scripture Focus: “My people have committed two sins: they have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.” — Jeremiah 2:13

Reflection: Jeremiah’s words are raw and heartbreaking. God’s people had turned away from Him, trading the fountain of living water for cracked jars that could never satisfy. It’s a picture we recognize in our own lives—chasing after things that promise fulfillment but leave us empty.

Yet even in His grief, God’s voice is not one of abandonment. He calls His people back. The very fact that He speaks through Jeremiah shows His desire for restoration. His love is not diminished by our wandering; His fountain still flows.

Application:

  • Where are we drinking from “broken cisterns”—things that drain us instead of filling us?

  • How can we return today to the true source of life, the living water Jesus offers in John 4?

  • God’s call is not condemnation but invitation: “Come back to Me. My arms are open.”

Prayer: Lord, forgive us for the times we’ve turned to empty wells. Thank You that Your living water never runs dry. Draw us back to You today, and let our lives overflow with Your love. Amen.

Closing Word: If you’ve been chasing things that leave you empty, take heart: the fountain still flows, and Jesus offers living water that never runs dry (John 4).
